Chrome extension

Privacy Policy

Effective date: August 26, 2026

Summary: PoE MTX Checker processes supported Path of Exile shop page content locally to show compatibility badges. The developer does not collect, sell, or use that page content for advertising or profiling.

Scope

This policy describes how the PoE MTX Checker browser extension handles data. It applies to the extension and this static project website.

Data handled by the extension

To provide its single purpose, the extension reads the following information on supported Path of Exile shop pages:

This information is processed locally in the browser. It is not sent to the developer, used for analytics, advertising, profiling, or sold to third parties.

Compatibility data requests

The extension may download a public compatibility snapshot over HTTPS. This request does not include the shop page content, the item being viewed, or a user identifier. The current remote source is hosted through GitHub infrastructure. Like any web host, the infrastructure provider may receive standard request information such as an IP address and user agent under its own privacy terms.

If the remote snapshot cannot be reached or validated, the extension falls back to a snapshot packaged with the extension.

Storage and retention

The extension does not create user accounts and does not persist browsing history or shop page content. A downloaded compatibility snapshot may be held temporarily in the extension service worker's memory to avoid repeated requests. Chrome can discard this memory at any time.

Permissions

Sharing and sale of data

The developer does not sell user data. The extension does not transfer shop page content or browsing activity to the developer or to advertising, analytics, or data-broker services.

Chrome Web Store Limited Use

The use of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

This website

This project website is static and contains no project-operated analytics, advertising trackers, accounts, or forms. Links to GitHub, Path of Exile, and donation services open third-party websites governed by their respective privacy policies.

Security

Remote compatibility data is requested over HTTPS and validated before use. No method of software distribution or network transmission is completely secure, but the extension is designed to minimize permissions and data handling.

Children's privacy

The extension is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes to this policy

This policy may be updated when the extension's behavior, permissions, or data sources change. The effective date at the top of this page will be updated with material revisions.
